Upcoming Awards
A few weeks ago, we mentioned that we were putting together awards for the RecOps community. We had a number of questions about it so we thought we’d use this space this week to address some of the FAQs.
What are the categories?
Builder - These are the individuals who know how to build and are continually striving to innovate with the latest technology to improve. They are the folks you go to when you are thinking of solutions but not sure where to start and how to do what you are thinking, and they know how you should build it, the possible technical trade-offs, and what the latest in the space is. Now with AI, you see them building the solutions we've all needed for a while.
Connectors - These are the "Oh, hey, I know someone you should talk to about that" folks. You go to them for their advice and know that, if they don't know, they'll connect you with someone else who can help.
Legacy - These folks are the ones who influence and teach you. Because they have seen so much throughout their careers and have a deep knowledge of the space, you go to them when you want to know what has been tried before and the outcomes.
SpecOps - These are the individuals who know the systems or processes inside and out (sometimes better than the CSMs), to whom you turn when everything feels like it's breaking and you need help. Like Special Forces, they are able to drop in and solve your problem. They are your first call and lifeline.
Up-and-Comers - These are the individuals who may not hold the most prominent titles (e.g., coordinators/specialists) or have the widest audience (e.g., due to their titles, they may not be invited to speak). Still, you see all the potential in them. You know they're going to be the next generation of voice in the TA/RecOps space, helping to push the space to new heights.
How many times can you vote?
As many times as you want. The voting is anonymous.
Are vendors going to be involved?
We’ve reached out to a few vendors to see if they’d like to be involved. Their involvement wouldn’t dictate who wins, but they are being kind enough to help get the survey out as well as surprises.
Will there be only one winner and will we find out who else got voted on?
There will be one winner (and we’re working on a surprise for each) but we will also show the Top 5 as well because recognition is important and also every RecOps team is different.
Is this going to be a popularity contest where we see the same people all the time who are just the most popular on LinkedIn?
We talked it over with several different folks in the space and some have explicitly said, “I love that you are doing this. But people already know me. If I get the most votes, please give it to the next one.” We intended to honor that.
Is this only for those in the US?
Absolutely not! Much of the origin of our approach, style, and need to do awards was born from conversations with those in EMEA.
