This was another tough week for a lot of folks in recruiting (more layoffs, more disinformation to candidates). To provide some levity, someone gave me the idea of doing shoes like I did cocktails a few weeks ago. These results were crowd-sourced. I apologize in advance to my former head of TA, who, as a sneaker-head, will likely disagree.
RecOps: Climbing
Why? RecOps folks have to be comfortable with the uncomfortable, know where the ledges in any process, be used to hanging on alone, and always moving toward the next problem (either up or down). Sounds a lot like rock climbing.
Heads of TA: Stilleto
Why? Flashy enough to start a conversation, convey the right amount of quiet power, and also the functionality for crowd control when necessary.
Recruiters: Streetwear
Why? Recruiters are known for their versatility and ability to start conversations with anyone in a crowd. These shoes can be dressed up, dressed down, be a statement piece, or faded into the background.
Sourcers: Hiking
Why? Sourcers are often talked about as turning over every rock and journeying over sometimes rough terrain to find candidates.
Recruiting Coordinators: Running
Why? Recruiting Coordinators are always running around. One minute they're scheduling an interview and the next they're running to escort a candidate or interviewer to a room.
