Fireworks
For many in the US, the 4th of July is all about the fireworks show. For those of us in the Rec/TA/Hiring/Recruitment Ops space, we see fireworks shows everyday with massive process overhauls, changes to our ATS that we now have to scramble to fix/understand, or unpredictable spikes in reschedule rates for high priority roles.
Here are some quick tips to avoid firework shows in our role:
Plan Ahead (scheduling) - The time around holidays will always lead to spikes in the reschedule rate. These can be avoided by either scheduling away from them (e.g. if not putting meetings or interviews the day before a break) or following up consistently with individuals to ensure their calendars are current.
Plan Ahead (people) - Learn about your stakeholders and what they need then show up to meetings with that. If they want an agenda, ensure that one is sent ahead. If they want time to review materials before meeting, send it ahead. This will avoid stressful situations because people will see you are making an effort to cater to their style.
Stay Calm, Carry On - People pick up on vibes so if you show up to a meeting with your stressed energy turned up to 11, that will put people on edge. If you can, try to build in buffers to catch your breath between meetings.

#YourNextHire / People Looking In the RecOps Community
What I'm Looking to Do:
Helping people is my jam. 🙂. I’m a forward-thinking, scrappy Talent Acquisition professional with 20+ years of global recruiting experience at various company sizes in multiple industries. I am passionate about innovative technology, data analysis, creative problem solving, process efficiency, impactful employer branding, and exceptional interview experience. Some of my biggest achievements were at Activision, where I staffed multiple high-profile video game projects (including three blockbuster Call of Duty titles) before leading the talent sourcing function, where I developed and implemented a service-level agreement to drive efficiency and accountability. In my most recent role as RecOps Manager with Epic Games, I led the creation of a TA org knowledge base developed with Notion, saving the team time and frustration trying to find information.
Roles I'm Looking for:
RecOps and Recruiter opportunities at all levels (contract or FT).
Remote is ideal, but flexible working hybrid or in-office depending on location (I’m based in the LA area).
