The 2025 RecOps Journey
Day 2 of 2025. If you had time off over the holiday season, you are likely shaking off the dust that might have accumulated a little on your RecOps shoes. Here are a few quick reminders for the year ahead:
You don’t have to change everything Week 1. The new year's excitement can make you want to do everything all at once. Here is the thing: You don’t have to. If you didn’t, pause to map everything on your roadmap to the TA team and the company’s goals. If you don’t have either roadmap, then take the opportunity to establish a Scrum model for your projects and setup sprints.
Invest time in learning. Towards the end of last year, we discussed how learning APIs and product management are among the top things to invest your precious time in, but there are plenty more, like prompt engineering and agent building. It might seem like a lot at first, but if you set aside 30 minutes for learning every day, over the course of the year, that is 182 hours (~7.5 days) of learning. That investment in yourself will never be a poor one.
Think like a Product Manager. In recent job descriptions, product management-esque skills are popping up more and more. Take the time to learn more about how they operate and think of ways to incorporate their ideas. We’ll also be doing our best to bring you information and insights from that world into our 2025 writings.
