Music and RecOps—RecOps and Music—is a combination made in heaven, given that RecOps plays the symphony of TA to get the best outcomes for candidates and internal stakeholders. To have a little fun with this, I decided to spin it back to the 1990s and the discography of Anthony L. Ray, more commonly known as Sir Mix-A-Lot. Note - these songs aren’t about RecOps so this wasn’t a lyric match as much as something to laugh.
RecOps professionals like small buts, and we cannot lie. Small buts are the easy changes to make. Those conversations that start with a “Hey, can you swap this for that?” and generally don’t require a large time commitment. Big buts, on the other hand, are not our friends. Those are usually the tasks where the minute we hear them, we know a whole day is lost (e.g., “Can we use this dashboard but change it to X department, in Y color, and also have it make us coffee?”). It doesn’t mean big buts can’t be fun, but if everything is a big but, then it makes things a lot harder.
Thank you, Ben Abear, for this one! Every RecOps professional knows we have to jump on a million and one tasks or raise our hands throughout the day.
